Chambers Bay To Offer Renown Golf Academy

Brian Mogg, a native of Tacoma and founder of his national performance academy, will bring his academy to University Place. For $350, you can learn from one of the best and get a free round at the links-style course.

A man who helped Y.E. Yang become one of professional golf's best and has worked with other pros is bringing his game to .

Brian Mogg, a Tacoma native and founder of Brian Mogg Performance Center, will launch an academy this summer and offer half-day sessions covering all aspects of the game, from full swing to putting to golf course management.

It's another coup for the Pierce County owned, links-style course, which hosted the 2010 U.S. Amateur and will host the 2015 U.S. Open.

"I see the relationship with Brian Mogg here at Chambers Bay as an important step in growing the game in the Northwest," said Brent Zepp, Assistant Professional and PGA Instructor at Chambers Bay. "Brian is one of the top golf instructors in the world, and to have him here is an incredible resource that I hope brings great inspiration to many players."

Mogg has garnered a reputation for being one of the best instructors in the country. He pursued a career on the PGA Tour in the 1980's before settling in Orlando, FL and joining the famed David Leadbetter Golf Academy in 1993.

He opened the Brian Mogg Performance Center in 2002, and his stable of professional clients has steadily grown ever since. According to its website, at least one of its clients has won a championship every since 2005.

Mogg was voted one of America's Top 100 Teachers by the 28,000+ members of the PGA for eight consecutive years.
