Halloween Spooky Swim!

* Come test out your fear factor by swimming in the Sound at the end of October! Back by popular demand, this is the 2nd annual "Dress Up Like a Seal For Halloween" Swim party!
* We will swim from the beach at Kopachuck State Park out to Cutts Island (also known as "Deadman's Island" by the locals). Then most of us swim around it before heading back. At the north end of the island is a long narrow sandbar that we usually ...cross over on foot, providing photo opportunites (thank you kayakers!) and resulting in the fabulous photos you've seen on our group page.
* If you swim around the island before heading back, it's about 1.9 miles; if you swim TO the island and back (without going around it) it is 1.2 miles.
* Afterwards, we'll sit by the fire pit & drink hot apple cider & eat Seafood Stew. You can warm your toes in Diana's Mini-Portable-Hot-Tub (a beverage cooler filled with hot water) or you can experience the internal heating miracle that is produced by running up the hill to the parking lot.

There is a very modest Low Tide at 3:15 pm; and since it is only dropping 7.5 feet over the previous 6 hours, we can get started on our swim before the actual low....about 1:45.

* This is a FREE event! It is not sanctioned or insured, so I will have a waiver for you to sign. We will have at least 3 kayakers to escort us and keep us safe.
The only costs to you are:
1) your signature;
2) a $4 toll per car crossing the Tacoma Narrow's Bridge on your way back to the I-5 corridor;
3) Parking pass at Kopachuck *if* you don't already have the Annual "Discover Pass"......you can get a day pass for $10.
Carpools are thus encouraged.....get to know your fellow swimmers!See More
