The Gig Harbor Family YMCA now offers a weekly Yoshinkan style Aikido class. Yoshinkan Aikido is the style of Aikido most noted forretaining its martial effectiveness. It is one of the martial arts taught to the Tokyo Riot Police, as documented in the book "Angry White Pajamas." Yoshinkan Aikido emphasizes effectiveness of techniques for defense, and standardization of techniques for teaching purposes. Brian Boon will teach the class in a traditional manner, including bowing, use of Japanese terminology, and a strong emphasis on proper execution of techniques.ο»Ώ
