Gig Harbor's Durkee Named to Pre-Season All-State Football Team
Gig Harbor High School kicker and punter Korey Durkee has been named to Ron Siegel's 2011 pre-season All-State team.
Ron Siegel released his annual all-senior pre-season All-State football team today and Gig Harbor kicker/punter Korey Durkee was named to the first team.
Durkee, who also mans the goal for the soccer team, was selected as the only place-kicker for the offensive All-State side.
Although he was named as the place-kicker, Durkee has committed to punt for the University of Washington. Durkee was offered a scholarship in June and accepted on the spot.

Durkee is rated as a five-star punting prospect by KohlsKicking.com after he averaged 46 yards per punt at one of their camps.
Gig Harbor opens the 2011 season at home against on Sept. 2.
