Girls Lacrosse: Gig Harbor Falls Short Against Curtis

Emily Bundick led Gig Harbor's offense with three goals and also recorded one ground ball on defense.

GIG HARBOR – Alexa Manteufel scored a team-leading six goals as the Curtis girls lacrosse team defeated Gig Harbor’s Harbor Fire, 14-12, on Tuesday at Sehmel Homestead Park in Gig Harbor.

Emily Bundick led Gig Harbor’s offense with three goals and also recorded one ground ball on defense. Goalkeeper Maddie Shjerven recorded a game-high 10 saves in the team’s second loss of the year.

Gig Harbor led the Vikings 9-8 at halftime, but Curtis goalkeeper Carina Coppedge-Pope’s three saves in the second half proved to be the difference in the game.

Emily Davis added three goals on offense for the Vikings and also recorded one ground ball in the team’s third win of the season.

Curtis (3-3-0) next faces Nathan Hale (2-4-0) in a 7 p.m. matchup, Thursday, April 4 at Curtis Senior High School. Gig Harbor (3-2-0) next faces Ballard (3-3-0) in a 5:30 p.m. matchup, Thursday, April 4, at Sehmel Homestead Park.
