Soccer: Sounders Women Sign Gig Harbor's Stephanie Cox

Defender Stephanie Cox will join her World Cup teammates: Hope Solo, Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux.

Soccer superstar, Stephanie Cox, is back in the Pacific Northwest as the Seattle Sounders Women signed the 25-year-old defender for the 2012 season on Wednesday.

The University of Portland grad, who spent the last two seasons with the Boston Breakers, currently lives in Gig Harbor with her husband, Brian.

With the addition of Cox, the Sounders now have four veterans from the 2011 World Cup in Germany: Hope Solo, Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux.

According to the team website, Cox will be available for 7 of the 10 home games.

The ladies will kick off their season on Monday, April 9, 7:30 p.m., at Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila.
