Three Golf Pros And a Rookie at Summer Swing Golf Tournament

The 25th annual golf tournament at Canterwood Golf and Country Club drew more than 140 local golfers from the community.

Here are the pictures from the 25th annual ’s at  this past Friday.

Out of the 36 teams, our team came in dead last with a final score of 79.

Despite our score, our group had a blast and hands down had the best “team photo”! (Check out the photo gallery above.)

It took us a little more than 6 hours to complete all 18 holes in the best ball tournament, and as everyone had warned, Canterwood was a very, very tough course—.

I was really fortunate to have my awesome teammates Rebecca Stay, who is a local financial planner, Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier Ronald “Renaldo” Waldo and Gig Harbor Police Chief Mike Davis. They all had clutch plays throughout the day.

Renaldo (his name was misspelled on the roster, but we decided to keep calling him Renaldo), has been serving in the U.S. Army for the last decade and spent the last 3 years at JBLM as a Long-Range Surveillance radio section chief. He also served multiple tours overseas, once in Iraq and four times in Afghanistan.

Renaldo played golf in high school and still plays one or twice a week now. Even though he’s never played at Canterwood, he was definitely our MVP.

Congrats to the Chamber for a successful event and great job to everyone who played last Friday at the tournament!
