Weekly Sports Wrap Up

Check back each Sunday for a review of the past week in prep sports.

This is the first in a series of posts that will provide scores and highlights for 14 different high school leagues across Western Washington. Each week  we will feature a top game and star player. 4A Narrows

Weather wiped out half of the games for the 4A Narrows conference last week, but league leader Olympia got two games in and maintained their undefeated league record. Mt. Tahoma fell out of second place with its close loss to Olympia, but rebounded with a thrashing of Central Kitsap on Friday.

Game of the Week:

Olympia 59, Mt. Tahoma 55 – Mt. Tahoma challenged Olympia like few teams have this season, but the Bears prevailed in this close affair. Alex Weber-Brader led Olympia with 21 points and 17 rebounds.

Player of the Week:

Dominick Franks, Olympia – Franks scored 12 points on nearly-perfect shooting and pulled down 15 rebounds in the win over Mt. Tahoma, including five offensive. Franks also chipped in a block and a steal.

4A Narrows Girls

Bellarmine Prep strengthened its lead in the 4A Narrows conference with three blowout wins last week. The Lions outscored their opponents by a combined 102 points in improving to 10-2 on the year. Mt. Tahoma dropped a game in the standings with a one-point loss to South Kitsap, while Olympia rebounded from a loss early in the week to keep pace for a playoff spot.

Game of the Week:

South Kitsap 47, Mt. Tahoma 46 – South Kitsap remained tied in the losses column with the T-birds with this one-point win.

Player of the Week:

Sarah Hartwell, Bellarmine Prep – Hartwell notched 19 points in all three games for the Lions this week, shooting an efficient 58 percent from the field. Hartwell also averaged five steals and assist per game during the week.
