Formally known as the Peninsula Metro Park District, PenMet Parks was created in 2004. The office is now located at <a href="listings/sehmel-homestead-park">Sehmel Homestead Park</a> in the <a href="articles/penmet-parks-unveils-new-pavilion">Pavilion building</a>, 10123 78th Ave. NW. The main purpose of the district is to maintain and improve the parks in the unincorporated area outside the City of Gig Harbor. In November 2010, Terry Lee was elected as the new executive director of PenMet Parks.
