First, dab is not legal to sell in Washington state. Second, "crack" is being reviewed forRead More reduced prison time because it's just a different form of cocaine favored by African Americans. Third, overdose on marijuana? Not gonna happen regardless of it's form. Lastly, I agree that butane is a problem and strongly recommend staying with water based concentrates of THC. Now go get baked.

Please report accurately and don't simply take your cue from the DEA. Hash Oil has been aroundRead More forever. It's not new, it's not crack, crack is not the preferred cocaine of African Americans, nobody has ever overdosed from marijuana, hashish, or hash oil. There have been commercial extraction devices for extracting oil from marijuana available through retail outlets since the 60's and their designs and solvents had been used for centuries. This story was a good example of poor journalism sprinkled with misinformation provided by entities who make their living from the marijuana prohibition.
Laura Sorensen will now be committed to Western State Hospital, possibly for the rest of her life.

Why not ask the guy who died? Now we have to give this woman lifelong room, board and meds.Read More Another waste of our money. Better to put her down as she deserves and move on. But for a last minute (30 second out change of direction) wife and I would have been there. Actually slowed to go in spoke up and we decided to stop later. As we reached the bottom the Wauna curve met the first Sherriff's car responding. Either or both of us would have done everything possible to put the woman away at the scene and might have saved the guys life. Too bad a capable armed citizen was not there. As it was a husband and his wife ended up wrestling the woman to the ground as I remember. Bob Ellsworth

As awfull as this has been the facts are ..this woman is mentally ill, there is no way we can changeRead More or prevent what happened without changing the laws that apply to the mentally ill. My heart goes out to the families of the victims and also to her loved ones. Robert.. "Put her down" makes you look ignorant and just an ass.

If a person doesn't know the right thing to do, they can at least stop doing the wrong thing. UnlessRead More you control your corrupting behavior, the state will do it for you. See: Bernie Madoff, Lance Armstrong, Elwood Anderson. Find a reputable self help group to understand impulses and behaviors. Life ain't easy, but it is the only one you've got, take care of it.

Patty Kennedy--I understand what you are saying, but my question is this: did this accident happenRead More near Purdy or the Lake Katherine area, as opposed to somewhere in Gig Harbor? It would certainly be easier for someone on the Peninsula to recognize or notice a vehicle like the one in the accident, if we realized it happened here, instead of Gig Harbor.

From the Tacoma News Tribune, it looks like a man was hurt, but is "expected to survive".Read More I hope he is ok and I really hope they catch the person who did this. According to the same news article the accident occurred at "Route 302 just south of 154th Street NW".

It is a terrible collision whenever a pedestrian is struck by a car, fast moving, no doubt, as itRead More would be on 302 where the posted speed is 50 mph and many go faster. I think anyone walking along a highway after twilight must be doing so because he must do so... certainly not for fun. As I walk along the roads of Gig Harbor, I am constantly amazed at the kindness of most drivers who wave and smile and slow down and the absolute jerkhood of the occasional other, whether a gray-haired old lady, or a misbehaving teen, who seem to have no care or concern in the world for anyone else walking or driving in their vicinity. Squirrel's Mom -- to re-answer your question, from my reading of the map, yes this injury occurred in Gig Harbor although not within Gig Harbor city limits, and yes it was likely past Lake Katherine Village but before the Key Center interchange.

Yes, by all means blame the mother Beth Brewer. How do you know she was even present at thisRead More barbecue? If she was there, she may not have even known that the uncle was smoking or drinking. The boy's mother is most likely experiencing unimaginable grief and loss. Way to pile on.
Beth Brewer September 11, 2013 at 08:38 pm
Actually, in the original report on the accident, the brother and "mother" were at theRead More same BBQ and she admitted that she was aware that her brother had smoked some pot. Also in the report, the mother gave her brother permission to take the kids in the car. Please read all related information to see the horrific situation that these children were living with.

*sigh* @ Venture72's last comment. What the police dept have done is showing a good thing aboutRead More the community. That's what it should be all about. It would be great if EVERYONE is involved with helping each other especially now. Anyway, I praise the police dept for being part of the community. :->

If no owner is found I am more than happy to give this beautiful thing a wonderful home.

Does anyone know if this dog's owner was found or if it needs a home?

Looks like gangs have moved into Gig Harbor. It's called "tagging" (the graffiti), andRead More it's what they do to establish their territory with rival gangs. The best thing to do is to cover it up with paint or remove it (after you've taken photos) whenever you see it, and this will help to discourage gangs in that area.
Venture72 August 16, 2013 at 02:54 pm
You've made the tagger happy posting his/her "artwork" on the web.
Chris August 19, 2013 at 10:30 am
This is from the Gig Harbor Police Dept. webpage: [Who can I call to report graffiti and get itRead More removed? City residents can call (253) 851-2236 option 1 to report the graffiti. Call an officer for pictures and a report. Graffiti removal is the property owner's responsibility. Note: if an arrest is made the property owner may request restitution from the courts.] I'm sure you could also email your photos to Police Chief Mike Davis at as well as call them: davism@cityofgigharbor.net
