Gig Harbor Police Department was established in 1946. The department is comprised of 16 officers and two civilians whoMore serve the city of Gig Harbor. The police department moved into the Civic Center on Grandview Street in the fall of 2002. Mike Davis is the police chief.

Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One provides service to residents living on the Gig Harbor Peninsula, Fox and RaftMore Islands. The fire district provides services to  more than 44,000 residents including those living within the City of Gig Harbor limits. The fire district has nine fire stations as well as a Headquarters/Training facility.

Five of the nine stations are staffed everyday with full-time firefighters. Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One has 100 paid members and 40 volunteers. It offers services including fire suppression, emergency medical, special operations and fire & injury prevention strategies. Parking is available for visitors and members only.
