Battle of the Bands Preview: I for Eye

Patch sits down with local band, I for Eye, that will be competing against two other bands at the Battle of the Bands this Saturday.

The is hosting the this Saturday, Jan. 28.

Today, Patch sits down with a Gig Harbor band, "I for Eye", that will be competing against two other amateur bands: Euphoria and 3L3R.

I for Eye, which has been performing together since last summer, includes Kierah Taylor (lead vocals), Drew Ryan (guitar), Alec Bukata (bass) and Cole Rau (drums).

While 17-year-old Taylor is home-schooled, freshmen Ryan, Bukata and Rau attend .

Come Saturday, the three bands will be vying for the grand prize: a 3-song demo recording session at Pacific Studios in Tacoma.

According to the contest rules, a panel of three judges will score the bands on their musical ability, crowd appeal, appearance, showmanship and professionalism.

In addition, each band is allotted 25 "groupie" tickets that the members will be able to sell at the door. Each band will be awarded four points for each of these tickets sold. For the complete rules, see the attached PDF.

Battle of the Bands

Where: Jim & Carolyn Family HOPE Center and Cheney Family Boys & Girls Club, 8502 Skansie Ave.

Cost: $5 (All proceeds to benefit the Cheney Family Boys & Girls Club.)
