'History Rocks' for the Gig Harbor History Museum

September 22, 2012 marks the eleventh year of the popular Harbor History Museum Dinner & Auction. The event has grown to be the signature event for the Harbor History Museum and our community. Over the last four years, the event has raised as much as $240,000/year providing vital funding for museum operations, special and permanent exhibits, student education initiatives, and community programs.

The HHM Dinner Auction/Basket Social is Gig Harbor’s fundraising event of the year. The evening begins with a glass of champagne at the door and an exclusive silent auction filled with overflowing baskets, fun packages, and handcrafted items. Guests are then seated for a gourmet meal, followed by a Dessert Dash where each table bids for the opportunity to choose their dessert first. After dessert, the live auction begins, featuring one-of-a-kind local experiences (Holiday Party for the Lighted Boat Parade), extravagant trips (Holland America 12-day Cruise) and other unique items.

We are excited to announce that Paul Skansi is this year’s Honorary Chair. The Skansi family has a significant historical connection to the culture and heritage of the Gig Harbor Peninsula and we are honored he will serve as Honorary Chairman.

Paul Skansi grew up in Gig Harbor and became well-known throughout the community as a talented football player. Paul’s career blossomed after high-school; he played for the University of Washington where he was an Honorable Mention All-America and All-Pac-10 Receiver. He was then drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1983. After his rookie season he signed with Seattle and played with the Seahawks from 1984-1991 in the era of Dave Krieg and Steve Largent. Paul is now a scout for the San Diego Chargers and resides in Poulsbo, Washington, with wife Stephanie, and two daughters.

History Rocks! is this year’s theme for the event. Our guests will be transported in time to the retro 80’s era through décor, entertainment, and music. The 80’s are back!
