Facebook Users Say Key Peninsula Got Thunder, Narrows Lightning Tuesday

Turns out a warning from the National Weather Service was accurate after all, one Patch editor finds.

Either I'm the world's heaviest sleeper, or I simply missed Tuesday night and early Wednesday's storms.

After the National Weather Service announced that thunderstorms could be heading our way, I was bracing for some of nature's fireworks show. Turned out to be a no-show where I live on the Peninsula.

But when I offered news of the non-storms on our Facebook page, our growing user base offered a different story. Here are a few examples from users:

  • Michelle: "Yes. I heard thunder around midnight near 144th"
  • Nolan: "I saw wicked lightening over the narrows at 1 a.m."
  • Heather: "We got it on the KP! I love thunder!!!!!!"
  • Angie: "Thunder...about 1:30am.....Olalla"
  • Jessica: "I heard thunder and saw lightning in North Tacoma!"
So I guess I was off the mark. Still, I'd love to hear about what happened outside your window. Tell us in the comments.
