The Artondale Cemetery Association hosted a commemoration of all veterans on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11. The public event was held at the Artondale Cemetery in Gig Harbor.
The Gig Harbor American Legion Post 236, the Gig Harbor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1854 and the Peninsula Veterans Honor and Color Guard participated in the ceremony, according to Artondale Cemetery Association member Frank Bannon.
It included a three volley rifle salute and the playing of Taps as a tribute to the veterans, followed by a flag ceremony by the St. Nicholas Knights of Columbus Council 9238, assisted by Boy Scout flag bearers.
The Knights of Columbus also placed American flags at each gravesite.
There are more than 65 veterans buried at the Artondale Cemetery.
