Please Welcome Roger Roth & Renee B., Our Newest Bloggers

Do you have an opinion, experience, or passion you'd like to share? We welcome you to blog about it on Patch through our Local Voices section.

This week Gig Harbor Patch welcomed Roger J. Roth and Renee B. as its newest bloggers.

A Chaplain with the Gig Harbor Police Department, Tacoma Pierce County Chaplains and International Conference of Police Chaplains, Roth has already contributed two posts in to the Gig Harbor Patch Local Voices section.

His first post, Sunrise Service at Haven of Rest, Roth shares photos and details from a 30-year local tradition that takes place every year on Easter morning.

His second blog on Patch, Why A Police Chaplain?, Roth explains what a Chaplain does.

"The word Chaplain simply means a member of the clergy who is attached to a chapel, branch of the military or a corporation or hospital," he wrote. "Generally speaking, police and other emergency services Chaplains are there to aid the first responders and when requested, the families involved in the emergency."

Chaplains aren't interested in preaching at crisis scenes, he says, "The biggest thing they do is try to be a calming agent while also freeing up the law enforcement or fire personnel to the things they do best."

Renee B. used our blogging platform to ask a question about Borgen Boulevard, and she's gotten at least one answer via the comment section.
