Rains Hit Gig Harbor, Key Peninsula Hard Thursday

The storms caused short, sporadic power outages and a whole lot of water on the ground.

The rains and thunderstorms that the National Weather Service predicted Thursday for Gig Harbor hit, and boy did they hit hard.

Although the day stayed mostly gray, the downpours hit unexpectedly and fiercely.

Whole streets turned into rivers of rushing rain water. A Patch user snapped a photo of water overtaking a manhole near the bottom of Soundview Drive.

From Artondale to Raft Island to the Key Peninsula, residents reported short, sporadic power outages caused by the storms.
