Emergency Food Network Seeking 3-D Art Entries

The art works will be auctioned off to raise money to feed food-insecure families and individuals in Pierce County. Interested artists should submit photos of their entry by Nov. 2.

Emergency Food Network (EFN) is currently accepting applications for its second annual Vessels – Juried Art Show & Auction event in November.

The event will take place on Friday, Nov. 16, at the Charles Wright Academy Performing Arts Center in University Place.

It will feature locally crafted, 3-dimensional artwork to be judged and auctioned.

Interested artists should submit photos of their entry by Nov. 2. Make sure to send at least two high-quality Jpeg photos to vessels@efoodnet.org.

The top 30 pieces will be featured and judged at the event. The art will be auctioned to raise funds to feed food-insecure families and individuals in Pierce County.

Application forms are available online. Entry fee is $25 for each artwork.

The non-profit organization based in Lakewood distributed food to 67 food banks, shelters and hot meal sites that accommodated 1,285,903 visits in Pierce County in 2011.

For more information, visit the EFN website or contact Jeff Klein at jeff@efoodnet.org or 253-584-1040.

Ugh. That's not good, Starla. How many times a week do you and husband cross, or at least try toRead More cross that crosswalk.

I have seen orange flags (like the kind you use on the boat with a water skier) used at crosswalksRead More in Redmond. Perhaps putting a PVC pipe in the ground on either side of the road or attached to the nearby sign posts with a few flags inside for you to hold out/carry to the other side when you're crossing would be helpful?

Brent, we cross it about at least once a week.
