Harbor History Museum Presents: A Musical Journey With Michael Fitzpatrick

Cellists Michael Fitzpatrick will be performing at the Harbor History Museum on Nov. 10.

World-renowned cello-soloist and recording-artist Michael Fitzpatrick will perform in concert at the Harbor History Museum on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 3:30 p.m. The ‘musical journey’ will feature Fitzpatrick performing on acoustic cello his own ‘Invocation for World Peace’ - and transporting music by J.S. Bach, Ravel, Faure, Saint-Saens, Schubert and Casals.

Fitzpatrick is the recipient of the Prince Charles Award for Outstanding Musicianship conferred by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales. He has worked musically with His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the past 16 years, highlighted by the recent performance on the United States Capitol West Lawn to an audience of 50,000.

Featured on television on PBS’ ‘The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer’, on NPR/National Public Radio and in the recent PBS special ‘The Music Instinct’, Mr. Fitzpatrick has performed as soloist at the Hollywood Bowl, the National Cathedral, the United Nations, Lincoln Center, the Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds, the Aspen Music Festival, for the historic joining of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Muhammad Ali, at the Royal Palace for His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, for The Beatles’ producer Sir George Martin, and as soloist in countries around the world.

Fitzpatrick is the producer, music director, and featured musician of TUNING THE PLANET - the East-West chant-fusion project inspired by the friendship between The Dalai Lama and Thomas Merton - recorded and filmed inside the largest cave in the world. Mr. Fitzpatrick will be signing copies of the COMPASSION CD, source-music for the project, and his own ENTER THE DREAM TIME CD, following the performance.
