The official beginning of the fall season is this Friday. Patch brings you part two of things to do to help you welcome fall (and maybe even love it, too).
While our summery weather and temperatures have made a nice return to the South Puget Sound, it hasn't stopped the calendar from moving forward to a new season.

Eighth Annual Bird Lover's Weekend, Museum of Glass (Tacoma)
Why here: This gorgeous museum and local artistic jewel is featuring a weekend devoted to the birds. Well, glass birds that is, and they are positively stunning. Master Finnish glassblowers will be on hand to create gorgeous glass birds designed by Oiva Toikka. You can also participate in a special brunch, hear great music, and learn more about the birds--this year's featured glass winged creature is the woodpecker). Fort Nisqually Candlelight Tour, Point Defiance Park (Tacoma)
Why here: Historic and poignant Fort Nisqually comes alive at night on the evenings of Oct. 7 and 8 at Point Defiance Park. Take a look at all things 1855. Re-enactors give the visitor a peek into the life of a family that lived, worked, and played during this time in history. These are popular tours and attract many visitors from near and far. Fall Plant Sales: Adriana Hess Wetlands (University Place) on Oct. 29 and The Fall Native Plant Sale (Tacoma Nature Center, Tacoma) on Oct. 1.
Why here: Take advantage of going green, beautifying your property, and supporting great local natural parks and programs. Adriana Hess Wetlands in University Place is home to the Tahoma Audobon. Take a look at the plants, visit the park, and learn more about this great organization. The Fall Native Plant Sale is being held at local natural wonder, The Tacoma Nature Center. Key Peninsula Farm Tour (Key Peninsula)
Why here: On Oct. 1, take a leisurely drive to the beautiful Key Peninsula countryside to explore this pristine area and it's working farms. Nine farms are featured in this great tour (including one farm that is also a terrific local winery). Music, activities, and fun abound at each stop of the way. Truck and Tractor Day, Ft. Steilacoom Park (Lakewood)
Why here: Yes, you read that right. It is Truck and Tractor Day on Oct. 29 at Ft. Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. A dream day for the little tykes, you can literally climb through various trucks and tractors, get a hard hat, take a hayride around the lake, and even decorate a pumpkin. This FREE family event begins in the mid afternoon and runs into the evening. Check out the link for more details and surprise the kids with some big rig fun.
