Storefront Decorating Contest Returns to Downtown Gig Harbor

Deck the Harbor, formerly known as Deck the Windows, invites waterfront businesses to get creative and try to outdo each other while celebrating the season with festive holiday storefronts.

With the holidays just around the corner, the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association is pleased to announce the return of Deck the Harbor, the festive holiday storefront-decorating contest held throughout the waterfront district.

Formerly known as Deck the Windows, this holiday display contest invites waterfront businesses to get creative and try to outdo each other while celebrating the season with festive holiday storefronts.

Merchants have until Nov. 29 to create their displays before a distinguished group of judges makes the rounds to determine the winners on Nov. 30 (just in time for the City’s tree lighting event and the First Saturday Art Walk on Dec. 1).

Certificates of Award will be presented to the business determined to be the best in each of the following categories:

  • Best Painted Windows
  • Best Storefront (can include doorways, foyers, courtyards)
  • Best Window Display
  • Best use of Candlelight Theme
  • Best representation of business
  • People's Choice Award (to be awarded the week after Christmas)

Shoppers are encouraged to vote for their favorite display while they are doing their holiday shopping on the waterfront. The People's Choice voting begins on Saturday, Dec. 1 and continues through Monday, Dec. 24.
