Happy New Year from CHEW

Chew Dog Rescue Update

My New Year's Resolution is to "Wag More and Bark Less".  So cute and so true!

Canine Health Education and Welfare Organizaton (CHEW) has come a long way baby!  Seven years ago a group of friends got together to advocate a fully fenced off-leash dog park here in Gig Harbor.  Along with the help of the community and PenMet, all of the hard work and planning has come to fruition.  Gig Harbor now has a new dog park!  For more information plan to attend the Presentation at the Gig Harbor Branch Library on Pt. Fosdick Drive on Sunday, January 6th at 1:00 PM by Jeanne Hample, NADOI endorsed dog trainer who will discuss "How to Keep Your Dog Happy & Safe at the Dog Park".  The presentation is free and open to the public!  Stay tuned for more information and dates for the official opening of the park.

In addition to the dog park group, CHEW Dog Rescue evolved in January of 2012.  Since our first rescue this past year, CHEW has rescued 84 dogs to date!  We are a non-profit organization devoted to canine health, education and welfare.  Please check us out at <www.chewdogrescue.org> or "friend" us on Facebook.  We love to hear about your own dog experiences and would love to have the community spread the word about CHEW.  We are a foster based organization and are always looking for responsible foster homes for our rescue dogs.  Volunteers and fosters are the heart of our organization. Businesses and individuals can help in many ways...Check us out on our website and contact us at pawsontherun@gmail.com

Thanks and Happy, Happy New Year!

Ugh. That's not good, Starla. How many times a week do you and husband cross, or at least try toRead More cross that crosswalk.

I have seen orange flags (like the kind you use on the boat with a water skier) used at crosswalksRead More in Redmond. Perhaps putting a PVC pipe in the ground on either side of the road or attached to the nearby sign posts with a few flags inside for you to hold out/carry to the other side when you're crossing would be helpful?

Brent, we cross it about at least once a week.
