Dry Thunderstorms Predicted in Foothills Over Weekend

The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for the foothills on Friday and Saturday with a chance of dry thunderstorms.

A dry-weather fire watch has been issued for the Plateau Foothills late tonight through Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning states that isolated dry thunderstorms could form south of the Cascade foothills or right over the area this evening through Saturday and will move north or northwest at about 10 to 15 mph. Due to the high-based nature of the storms, thunderstorm winds should be limited but gusty winds are always a threat when thunderstorms are in the vicinity.

Thunderstorms could cause lightning, and with the unusually dry conditions, grasses, brush and dead materials are at risk for brush fire.
