VIDEO: Fox Island Celebrates Memorial Day

Residents on Fox Island gathered at the Fox Island Cemetery to honor the fallen soldiers and veterans for Memorial Day.

The Fox Island Historical Society held a Memorial Day ceremony to pay tribute to the fallen veterans on Monday.

Residents, including several living veterans, attended the event that took place at the Fox Island Cemetery. It included a flag raising ceremony by the members of Boy Scout Troop 27 and prayers led by Reverend Janet Matthews of the United Church of Christ.

"It's a day of remembrance and joy, really, that we have such great things available to us in this country due to the people that sacrificed to make it happen," said Jerre Griffin, who served 26 years in the U.S. Army.
