September Alliance of Women Owned Businesses (AWOB) Speaker Series Meeting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…
Laughter in the Workplace is the topic for the keynote address by Sharon McIntyre at the September 12th meeting of the Alliance of Women Owned Businesses (AWOB), held at the Inn at Gig Harbor at 5:pm.
McIntyre is a certified “laughter leader” who spent many years as director of the non-profit Resident Council of Washington before recently retiring. McIntyre also teaches “laughing yoga” as developed by a physician from India, Madan Kataria, who was inspired by Patch Adams – the American physician who validated and implemented laughter and joy as an important part of holistic healing. Worldwide recognition was so well received, that after 17 years, more than 6,000 laughter yoga clubs have formed in 60 countries.
This is a meeting you won’t want to miss! McIntyre will lead group exercises that will inspire you to implement laughter in your personal and professional life to facilitate creating a healthier, more productive, and de-stressed life.
Laughing Thoughts…
“You laugh at me because I’m different; I laugh at you because you’re all the same.” Jonathan Davis
“When you really laugh, for those few minutes you are in a deep meditative state; thinking stops. It is impossible to laugh and think together.” Medication to Meditation
Research shows the health benefits of laughter are far-reaching – laughter can help relieve pain, bring greater happiness and even boost immunity. Positive Psychology names the propensity for laughter and sense of humor as one of the 24 main signature strengths one can possess. Adults laugh about 15 times daily; healthy children about 400 times daily, isn’t it time we connect with that inner child in each of us again? Additional benefits of laughter as related to stress management include, but are not limited to: regulation of hormones (laughter reduces the level of stress hormones like cortisol, epinephrine (adrenaline), dopamine and growth hormones). Laughter increases health-enhancing hormones like endorphins and neurotransmitters while also enhancing antibody-producing cells – responsible for a stronger immune system as well as fewer physical effects of stress. Hang on to your seat; you’re in for a real treat!
AWOB’s monthly meetings feature a keynote speaker on topics of interest to female entrepreneurs. All business owners, prospective owners and organizations that support women owners are welcome.
This event is FREE to AWOB members and first-time guests – the charge to all others is $25, payable at the door. Attendees may bring a door prize to get a spotlight moment to promote their business. Business cards are drawn for door prizes
AWOB Meet Me After Hours follows this meeting in the restaurant at the Inn at Gig Harbor – offering time for attendees to converse and continue networking in a casual one-to-one setting.
