Gluttony
Gluttony
Barely off the ground low and too lean
comes the next black, feathered thing
thin of stature and of long of wing
hardly moving comes forth Gluttony
'tis much mistaken and rarely seen
skeletal in figure
no matter the quantity of flesh it gleans
striping and pulling
from it's quarry
His is an insatiable emptiness
a hunger never swayed
He hunts for something unfound
such is his doom
starving while binging
ever to long
for a nonexistent tomb.
Gluttony is a bird well mocked
a creature made a fool
Too quickly he did give his soul
From him death was docked
what he thought a victory easily won
A rare and fine jewel
Gluttony called for pageantry and feasts
To discover the more he consumed
the more ravenous became the beast.
if he were a thoughtful bird
he would have prayed the prayer of the prey
asking for mercy and a quick release,
but no Gluttony
He is such an imprudent cur
he lives an endless, starving day.
