On Jan. 25, medics were dispatched to an unconscious male. Upon arrival, the man had regained consciousness but still complained of dizziness. He had been in the hot tub for about 20 minutes prior to losing consciousness. Medics treated and transported him to the hospital for further evaluation.

On Jan. 26, medics were dispatched to an allergic reaction. The patient had started taking a new medication and woke up with facial swelling and a rash. Her symptoms continued to worsen as she developed swelling in her throat and difficulty breathing. Medics treated and transported her to the hospital. Upon arrival at the ER, her breathing problems had resolved.

On Jan. 27, medics treated a man who fell while walking up an ice-covered hill. The patient landed on his right side, injuring his right arm, ribs and shoulder. He had dislocated his shoulder, fractured his collarbone and also had a one-inch laceration above his right eye. Medics treated and transported him to the hospital for further treatment.

On Jan. 28, firefighters were dispatched to a smoke investigation. The crew found a man burning yard debris and creating a significant amount of smoke. The homeowner was informed that there was currently a burn ban in Pierce County and was ordered to put the fire out.

On Jan. 29, on firefighters responded to wires in the roadway. The crew found that the wire was a telephone line that had come detached from a home. This caused the line to hang within 4 feet of the roadway. The crew blocked the road and pulled the line back up to about 15 feet and secured it with a large rock. The homeowner was informed and was asked to have the line repaired.

On Jan. 30, medics responded to an elderly woman who was found unresponsive. When medics arrived, she was confused and combative. Medics noted signs of a possible stroke. She was treated and transported to the hospital.

On Jan. 31, medics responded to a crash involving a woman who had been traveling at approximately 90 mph. The driver hit a median on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. She got out of her vehicle walked across the highway, passed out and stopped breathing. Olympic Ambulance happened to be driving by and stopped to begin life saving procedures. When Medic One arrived the patient had regained consciousness and was breathing on her own. Medics transported her to the hospital for injuries to her abdomen and pain in her hip and low back.
