Fire Blotter from March 12-18

The Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One responded to the scene after a car crashed into a building. Paramedics also treated a man who suffered a cut on his forehead from a telephone.

On March 12, firefighters responded to a report of a power line down on Harborview Drive. They found a line down due to a 40-by-40 slide. The power line presented no danger to property or people so crews contacted the department and . The scene was turned over to the city workers.

On March 13, a 91-year-old woman lost her balance while going down the stairs in her home. She fell approximately five steps and landed on her hip. Paramedics were called to assist the family, and after talking with the woman, they transported her to the hospital.

On March 14, the police contacted the paramedics to examine a 60-year-old man who had suffered a one-eighth inch cut to his forehead after pulling on a phone cord to a phone that his wife was holding. When she let go of the phone, it hit him in the face. The man refused any treatment and was left with the police.

On March 15, the 17-year-old driver refused medical care from the paramedics who responded after the teen's car clipped another vehicle then rolled over along a ditch. He had self-extricated, and the vehicle's air bag  did not deploy. The other driver was also not injured.

On March 16, a 30-year-old woman was in active labor when paramedics arrived. After a brief on-scene exam, paramedics moved the woman to a cot and provided comfort and care while being transported to the hospital. The woman was turned over to hospital care.

On March 17, firefighters were called to the scene of a car into a building on Kimball drive. They found that the driver of the car was uninjured, and that the car had been moved out of the building leaving a 12-by-4 hole in the wall. It appeared to the firefighters that the structure was still sound, so they turned the scene over to the who were on scene.

On March 18, paramedics responded to a report of an unconscious man. They found a 60-year-old man who was conscious but was feeling light-headed. Bystanders told paramedics he was fine, then began to stand up and became pale as he collapsed to the floor. He told paramedics that he thought he was dehydrated. The man agreed to be transported to the hospital for further tests.
