GHPD Blotter: Firefighter Helps Subdue DUI Driver and More

Theft: On Aug. 2, the victim contacted police after items were stolen from a locked storage unit outside her home in the 4800 block of Bering Street. Missing items include living room set, chair, TV, entertainment center, Xbox, washer and dryer, Blu-ray discs and a painting. Total estimated loss, more than $6,000.

Trespassing/Arrest: On Aug. 3, police were dispatched to parking lot on Pt. Fosdick Drive NW for a man who had been trespassed from the business. Despite several attempts to explain the trespass order to the 31-year-old man, he refused to acknowledge the officers. The man was arrested for second-degree trespass.

Motor Vehicle Theft/Arrest: On Aug. 4, police were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle theft and recovery at the parking lot. The 28-year-old man said he took the car without the owner's permission. The case has been forward to the Pierce County prosecutor for taking motor vehicle without owner's permission in the 2nd degree.

Hit and Run/Parking Lot Collision: On Aug. 4, police were dispatched to the parking lot for a hit-and-run collision. The victim saw the suspect back into her car and drive off. The victim was able to write down the license plate number and report to police.

Theft of Watercraft: Sometime between Aug. 6 and 8, an unknown suspect(s) stole the skiff from a boat at the .

Found Property: On Aug. 7, police were clearing people who were at the after hours. They found a black backpack with a bag of marijuana, a pill bottle of marijuana, glass pipe, ibuprofen pills, lighters and an eye glass case.

Theft of Vehicle Part: On Aug. 8, the victim parked her car at , and when she returned, the rear plate was missing.

Theft: On Aug. 8, an unknown male in his 30s with dark hair came to the victim's door in the 3500 block of Harborview Drive. He asked if the resident was interested in having any yard work done. When the woman declined, the man also asked if he could come in and use the phone. He was led into the kitchen while the victim went upstairs. When she came back down, the man had left with her house and car keys from the counter.

Theft: On Aug. 10, the victim set her phone on a table while getting her nails done at Express Nails and later left for lunch. When she returned, her iPhone, valued at $500, was missing. 

Warrant/Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance/Arrest: On Aug. 10, police were dispatched to a report of possibly intoxicated subject stumbling into traffic in the 5800 block of Soundview Drive. Upon investigation, the 34-year-old man was arrested for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Police also found a small amount of marijuana. He was taken to Kitsap County Jail.

Warrant/Arrest: On Aug. 10, police were dispatched to . in reference to a fight. When they arrived, they found two men fighting. One of them, a 34-year-old man, was arrested for two outstanding felony warrants.

Resisting/Interfering with Police/Traffic Collision/DUI/Arrest: On Aug. 11, police were dispatched to a single-car accident in the 11300 block of Canterwood Drive. The car had extensive damage in the front, and a light pole and some tress were also knocked down. As the officer was administering a breathalyzer test, the 19-year-old male driver began to run away. As he ran toward St. Anthony Hospital, a truck was pulling out. A firefighter got out and grabbed the suspect, who continued to struggle violently. Police also pulled out a Taser but did not use. He was arrested for DUI, MIP and obstructing an officer.

Harassment/Arrest: On Aug. 13, police were dispatched to an assault call near . The victim said the 19-year-old man chased the victim and threatened him by activating an electric shotgun. The case has been forwarded to the Pierce County prosecutor for harassment.

Warrant/Obstructing/False Statement/DWLS/Arrest: On Aug. 15, police arrested a 36-year-old man for third-degree DWLS in the 5000 block of Pt. Fosdick Drive. They also arrested a 20-year-old woman, who gave a false name during the investigation. She had outstanding arrest warrants from Kitsap County for two misdemeanor and one felony charges, including failing to register as sex offender.

Boating Violation: On Aug. 15, police impounded a boat from Jerisich Park for violation of overtime moorage restrictions. Police contacted the boat owner and issued a notice of infraction.

Warrant/Arrest: On Aug. 16, police were dispatched to Norwegian Wood Apartments in reference to a disturbance. After investigation, they arrested a 28-year-old man for two outstanding warrants.
