GHPD Blotter: Gig Harbor Homeowner Finds Shingles Ripped Off Roof, Accuses Contractors of Retaliation

Wednesday, March 7

DWLS/Arrest, 8:37 p.m. — Police arrested a 41-year-old woman for third-degree DWLS in the 4500 block of Pt. Fosdick Drive NW. Police also issued a traffic infraction for no proof of valid insurance and a warning for an expired vehicle license.

Vehicle Prowl, 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. — An unknown suspect(s) smashed the front passenger window of the victim's car that was parked at . Estimated total loss: $325.

Saturday, March 10

Trespass Notification, 5:53 a.m. to 6:32 a.m. — Police were dispatched to Safeway where two men were reported sleeping inside the grocery store. The 31-year-old and 25-year-old men were both issued a written trespass notice. Later that day around noon, police were dispatched to the to issue another trespass notice to the same 31-year-old man.

Tuesday, March 13

Vandalism, 4:23 p.m. — Police were dispatched to a home in the 3700 block of 60th Street Court NW in reference to a vandalism. The home owner told police there was a man pulling off shingles from his roof. He said the man left in a tan/brown Chevy pickup with a ladder rack. The owner said his wife had recently hired a worker to clean their roof. During the process, the cleaner found some damage on the roof and recommended a roofing contractor to make the repairs. The owner said they had some disputes over the cost and the work done by the contractor so they refused to pay the entire amount. As a result, the husband believed that the contractor came back to their house to cause damages to the roof. When the police contacted the two workers, they denied going to Gig Harbor that day nor owning a tan/brown Chevy truck. They also told police the wife had already called them and said she had photos of them on her roof, and she was going to take them to court. Police attempted to contact the wife over the phone, but she was unavailable. Her husband said he didn't have photos of the man on his roof.

Vehicle Prowl/Vandalism, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. — An unknown suspect(s) shattered the rear passenger window of a car that was parked at . The suspect stole a black Coach purse with the victim's wallet, social security card, debit card, keys and an iPod. Her card had been used at Gig Harbor Chevron for $62.54 following the car prowl.
