GHPD Blotter: Police Seize Derelict Vessel

Monday, Feb. 6

Vandalism, 3 a.m. — Police found some graffiti that had been spray-painted on the concrete walking surface of the city dock at 3201 Harborview Dr. Damage is estimated at $250.

Burglary/Vandalism, 5 p.m.-5 a.m. — An unknown suspect broke the side window of the Peninsula Orthopedic Guild Thrift Store, 6951 Kimball Dr., and entered by climbing on some shelves. The thief took the cash bag with $50 and about $20 to $50 worth of donations in a jar. A container with some inexpensive earrings and several tools and house ware items were also stolen. Damage is estimated at $200.

Tuesday, Feb. 7

Boating Incident/Violation On Nov. 3, a 27-foot motor vessel "Contessa" was tagged with a waning notice for mooring violation. While several attempts to contact the owner, the boat was continually taking on water and had to be pumped out. On Feb. 7, Police removed some fishing gear and outboard motor from the vessel. According to the police, the boat posed as a hazard to the environment since it contained petroleum and was slowly taking on water. Police seized the boat on Feb. 11. The vessel will now be auctioned off.

Theft, 4:40 p.m. — An employee at Cutters Point Coffee, 4735 Pt. Fosdick Dr. NW, told police that a woman came into the store and grabbed the tips jar containing about $50 and a pen from the counter after saying, "I'll take this and this". The woman got into a silver SUV and left the scene.

Vandalism, 10 p.m.-7 a.m. — An unknown suspect painted an "A" and other symbols on the mailboxes, owned by the Harbor Crossing Homeowners Association, in the 5000 block of Bering Street.

Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance/Arrest, 10:20 p.m. — Police arrested an 18-year-old man who had admitted to smoking marijuana at the Crescent City Park, 3303 Vernhardson St. He turned in a plastic baggie containing 2 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe to the police.

Thursday, Feb. 9

DWLS/Arrest, 9:05 a.m. — Police arrested a 29-year-old woman for DWLS third degree and issued an infraction for speeding in the 4300 block of 38th Ave. NW.

Saturday, Feb. 11

Simple Assault/Arrest, 9:39 p.m — Police arrested a 32-year-old man after they were dispatched to a fight at Halftime Saloon. The man was cited for fourth-degree assault and trespassed from the bar for life.

Sunday, Feb. 12

Theft, 12:32 a.m. — The victim told police her Coach purse and Harley Davidson jacket were stolen from Hy-Iu-Hee-Hee. The total value was $1,200.

DUI/Arrest, 1:25 a.m. — Police arrested a 49-year-old woman for DUI in the 6500 block of Soundview Drive.

DUI/DWLS/Arrest, 10:34 p.m. — Police arrested a 27-year-old man for DUI and third-degree DWLS. Police were dispatched to a car collision in the 4200 block of 72nd Street NW. The driver said he was driving over a hill and collided into a car that was behind a vehicle with hazard lights. He said the driver in front of him wasn't driving with its lights on. During the investigation, police also found a bag of meth in the driver's wallet. The man told police that he had used meth earlier that day.

Monday, Feb. 13

DWLS/Arrest, 3:05 p.m. Police arrested a 21-year-old man in the 9600 block of Burnham Drive for third-degree DWLS.

Vehicle Prowl, 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. — An unknown suspect smashed the right rear window of a car parked at the Gig Harbor Library and took the victim's black North Face jacket. The total value was $120.

DUI/DWLS/Arrest, 7 p.m. Police arrested a 61-year-old woman near Olympic Drive and Pt. Fosdick Drive NW for DUI and third-degree DWLS.
