Gig Harbor Police Blotter: August 3

The following arrest information was supplied by the Gig Harbor Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DUI/DWLS/Arrest: On July 20, police pulled over a 48-year-old man for having obstructed license plate in the 3400 block of 56th Street NW. The officer cited the driver for DUI, DWLS first degree and ignition interlock violation. According to police, this was his fourth DUI arrest.

Burglary/Theft/Vandalism: On July 22, police responded to a burglary at gas station, 5555 Soundview Dr. According to police, an unknown suspect(s) smashed the front door glass and stole a large quantity of cigarettes. The estimated loss was between $800 and $1,000 in cigarettes.

DWLS/Arrest: On July 22, police arrested a 47-year-old man in the 5000 block of Pt. Fosdick Dr. NW for DWLS third degree from unpaid ticket. He was also issued an infraction for no valid vehicle insurance.

DWLS/Arrest: On July 23, police arrested a 43-year-old woman in the Costco parking lot for DWLS third degree.

Simple Assault/Arrest: On July 23, police arrested a 49-year-old man for assault in the fourth degree at , 2925 Harborview Dr. The officers were at the restaurant when two men standing next to them started arguing. According to the report, they were arguing less than 3 inches from each other's faces, and the 49-year-old man shoved the other man, 40, toward a glass case. After interviewing the suspects, they said the two were arguing over a woman who was present during the incident.

Burglary: Sometime between July 22 and 25, an unknown suspect(s) broke in and ransacked one of the storage units at , 11632 Burnham Dr. According to the victim, the only thing missing from the storage was a tray full of hand tools.

Warrant/DWLS/Arrest: On July 24, police arrested a 51-year-old man in the 6800 block of Wollochet Drive NW. Before the arrest, a witness tipped the police about a possible drunk driver near the Hunt Street Business Park. When officials located the suspect standing next to the car, one of the officers recognized the suspect as a man whom he had arrested twice previously for DWLS. Upon approaching the driver, police smelled a strong odor of alcohol from the man. According to records, the driver had a misdemeanor warrant for DWLS, and his license was suspended in the third degree. The officer issued a criminal citation for DWLS third degree. The driver was not cited for DUI since police were not able to provide evidence that he was driving the car.

Motor Vehicle Theft: On July 24, police were dispatched to at 6200 Soundview Dr. in reference to a car theft. The victim sad an unknown suspect(s) took her 1999 Mercury Sable sedan.

Motor Vehicle Theft: On July 25, police were dispatched to a home in the 3400 block of Grandview Street in reference to a car theft. The victim said an unknown suspect(s) took her black 1991 Nissan car.

Hit and Run/Arrest: On July 25, police arrested a 46-year-old woman for hit and run in the parking lot. According to the report, the suspect left the parking lot after she hit an unattended truck.

Theft/Vandalism: Sometime between July 23 and 25, an unknown suspect(s) vandalized the victim's locked mailbox in the 2700 block of Ryan Street and stole about two days worth of mail inside.
