UPDATE: Coast Guard Clears Search

The U.S. Coast Guard concluded its search after it received a call for a possible boat in distress near Fox Island. They didn't find anything.

The Coast Guard said the waters around Fox Island and the Tacoma Narrows are cleared for access. It suspended its search at 11:30 a.m. yesterday.

The News Tribune reported that crews spent Thursday morning searching for a possible boat in distress.

Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Collin White said the Coast Guard conducted a search at first light after someone had reported a flare in the area. A helicopter that was patrolling in the area also helped with the search.
