Ex-Gig Harbor Police Sgt. Sharon Cox Reportedly Sues Department For Alleged Harassment

Q13 Fox is reporting Cox - who resigned in January - is suing the department for years of alleged harassment and discrimination.

The Gig Harbor Police Department's first female sergeant is reportedly suing the department for harassment.

Q13 Fox is reporting that former Sgt. Sharon Cox has officially brought the lawsuit. Cox resigned from her post in January, four months after she had filed a legal claim against the department after the police guild issued a unanimous vote of no confidence against Cox.

With regard to her response to a shooting on the Key Peninsula, where one man was killed and two others injured, the guild also called her response “cowardice,” because she responded too slowly.

According to (Cox's attorney Julie) Kays, a male officer allegedly “dug up dirt” and accessed her personal file. He allegedly found some missteps involving Cox, who was on duty during a Key Peninsula supermarket shooting in August where three people were injured.
