Residents Receive Duplicate Utility Bill

A programming error causes the city to send out a second utility bill for its residents and business owners.

The has issued a note stating that residents and business owners have received a duplicate bill for Nov. 30, 2010

The city's finance technician, Lisa Krasas, said the ratepayers will not be charged for the duplicate amount and should disregard the statement. If people are signed up for automatic payment, the rate will not be charged on their account.

She said a programming error was at fault for sending out the second utility statements in the mail.

"It's just a physical copy of the bill that was duplicated so the rates aren't charged to the accounts," Krasas said.

She said the city will be sending out a letter of apology.
