What is Needed in Our Health Care System

Airing my frustration with issues regarding health care.

Everyone has heard of Hippocrates. In fact, the Hippocratic oath is what doctors supposedly recite. And Hippocrates set the standard for treating the patient with respect and care. And everyone knows about the symbol of the snake on the pole, but what does it all mean when it comes to our experiencing health care for ourselves?

Let's face it, for the most part, Health Care is a business like any other business. What is the life blood of business? Making money!

That is what is frustrating regarding our health care system. People for the most part are overlooked, and money is the focus. Years ago, to join a plan, the cost per month was not too exorbitant.

Now, from what I see, it’s off the charts.

$400 a month?

Are you serious?

And what do you get for that?

Do you still have to pay a deductible?

Do you get premium care?

Is there a waiting period?

There are so many people in America without adequate health insurance and do you wonder why? I'm writing this from a stance of frustration, especially when it comes to dental care. My husband and I are in need of some dental work, serious dental work. Yet, we are stuck. We don't have the funds, do not want to get in debt, cannot get in debt even if we wanted to...and do not have the insurance.

Here we are, in America, the land of plenty, but cannot get the help we so dearly need. It's frustrating! Oh, if you're under 18, you can get some help with your teeth, but after that, buddy, you're on your own!

Oh I get it, dental help is only for the rich or the richly insured! How just is that? Now when it comes to the health care that the government is trying to overhaul, I wonder if that would be any better. I doubt it. Greed is job one in this world, money money money. Very sad state of affairs indeed.

If I ever win the lottery, I would start a foundation for people who are dealing with health issues and need help. Hmmm, time to buy a ticket again!
