Soltura Men's Workshop: Part 1 - Knight's Dilemma

Welcome to Soltura, a unique and exciting place where people just like you embark on their own heroic journey of self-discovery. We believe that attitude dictates our experiences and that all people have the FREEDOM to make the choice to change their attitude and transform their lives. Our workshops reflect the concept that healing is a dynamic, interactive, creative process that focuses on making changes from the inside out.

Soltura offers an environment where participants can slow down, face life issues, break through barriers and find meaningful ways to move forward. We believe each person ultimately holds the key to his or her own best answers. At Soltura, we provide the space, activities and opportunity for participants to reconnect with what they already know, but may have forgotten.

This workshop series is a metaphorical journey of self-discovery using the classic story The Knight's Dilemma, by Robert Fisher. The workshop is designed to address the unique life challenges encountered by men and adolescent boys in today’s society. This is a tale about a knight who gets stuck in his armor cutting himself off from family, friends and the world around him. Faced with losing his family or removing his armor, the knight embarks upon a quest along “The Path of Truth” that includes a series of challenges. The knight experiences many life lessons as he rediscovers who he really is and rekindles a relationship with his true self.

The first workshop is both physically and emotionally, helping build the foundation for further personal healing and growth by:

  • Making a commitment to go beyond the familiar
  • Redefining your concept of personal freedom
  • Realizing that you (like the knight) wear armor, acknowledge its composition, and begin taking steps to remove it
  • Unveiling your truth by giving your authentic self a voice
  • Clarifying your inner battles
  • Tapping into your courage

Who participates?

Participants range from people struggling with new challenges in life to those who are stuck in old patterns of living who find that their life is not as fulfilling as they had envisioned.

Soltura workshop participants include individuals of all ages looking for a different way to experience their lives or seeking a new understanding of their inner self. Programs are geared to anyone who has the desire to change their personal perspective and experience personal freedom. While the motivations to participate in the workshop trilogy are varied and unique to each participant, some reasons may include:

  • Navigating one of life’s transitions following a loss of a parent, a child, a marriage, a job or other form of emptiness
  • Understanding self-defeating behaviors
  • Improving one’s relationship with self, family and friends
  • Difficulty juggling life’s daily stresses that challenge quality of life
  • Moving beyond a co-dependent relationship with a spouse or partner who is struggling with alcohol abuse
  • Gaining perspective on compulsive or addictive behaviors

Participants are asked to complete a brief health history questionnaire during the registration process to ensure that they are sufficiently fit both physically and emotionally to complete the workshops.

More Information

Life-altering experiences at Soltura consist of single gender workshops lasting 3 - 5 days. The small group format, consisting of no more than 12 persons in any workshop, guarantees individual attention and dynamic group interactions. While the experience is personal and each participant must do their own work, that work is facilitated and enhanced by the experiences of the group as a whole.

At Soltura we believe that small intimate groups living together in a "home" like setting provides a safe and supportive environment, forming an opportunity where a common bond and trust develop naturally. This community becomes integral to the growth and healing process both during and after the workshop experience. The family group created during the workshop process creates strong, lasting relationships with the other individuals who have come together and broken through self-bondage. Their journey together is intimate and each individual becomes important to the personal healing of another.
