Jan. 12: New Year's Resolution Run for the Heroes

Kick off your 2013 on the right foot by registering for the fourth annual New Year’s Resolution Run for the Heroes. The race, set for Saturday, Jan. 12, features both a 5K Walk/Run and 10K Run and open to runners and walkers of all ages.

The event starts at 9 a.m. at the Skansie Brothers Park. The race route goes through downtown Gig Harbor and Crescent Valley Drive. Click here for the map.

Registration costs $35 per adult, $20 for those ages 18 and under. Click here to register online.

Race Packets may be picked up by registered participants at Route 16 Running Store on Friday, Jan. 11, between noon and 7 p.m. or they may be picked up starting at 8 a.m. on the day of the race.

According to the event website, all proceeds will be donated to the Behind the Badge Foundation, which supports the families of fallen police officers in Washington. The Foundation’s expanded mission includes the State recognized Line of Duty Death Response Team, financial support for line of duty death memorial services, support for catastrophically injured officer issues, a resource center to network counseling, financial planning, memorial planning, and legal assistance for affected families, and ongoing maintenance of the State Law Enforcement Memorial on the capitol campus in Olympia.
