Looks like a new tolling opportunity

Looking at the photos, I can't tell if they are real, or if I'm looking at the apple.maps version ofRead More the bridge.

I am all for it, I like Mr. Flemming. He has certainly been helpful in Key Peninsula.

Total BS. However, if he really is a resident of Gig Harbor, perhaps he will do a better job ofRead More representing the community to the county.....

The bond covenants (bond market back East) do not yet allow refinancing. It's not like refinancingRead More your house. There is a minimum period in bonds for this kind of debt that must pass prior to refinancing. The State finance folks are neither stupid or derelict. The day they're eligible, they'll pursue the best lower rate available.

Everyone else is taking advantage of the low interest rates to get into a better financial position,Read More the state should do this as well. It should be their driving policy. Why pay more money when you do not have to? Also, why are we paying sales tax on a state funded project? Why would a state tax itself for work that it does for itself? That should be one of the benefits of having the state do the job as opposed to an outside source.

Robin, I understand what you meant. Nevertheless, you used "not greedy" andRead More "Walmart" in the same context. In my time, I confronted a Walmart siting issue in Gig Harbor. My perceptions differ from yours, but I agree Walmart's prices are good. I just won't be recommending that they get any gold cups for corporate morality.

I wonder if they have ever thought of reducing the price instead of raising it. Every time theyRead More raise it less & less people use it & then they raise it again so even less people use it.. They might find that a lot more people would cross over if the price was lower. I often see ads for things in Gig Harbor that I would like, but if I add the cost of the toll it becomes way too expensive. I can't imagine a business raising their prices thinking that will bring in more customers, but then a business has to think logically. If it was lower I would love to drive over to beautiful Gig Harbor & points West.

Well, why not refinance? Is there a clause that prevents this?

There is no question that traffic will decline at some point due to excessive tolls. We just don'tRead More know what that point is, but how else does one explain the flat traffic volume despite population growth on this side of the bridge. One commenter pointed to the growth of retail opportunities on this side as another reason for flat traffic. I for one will shop in Port Orchard, Bremerton or Silverdale before I will cross the bridge. I recently bought a new Nissan in Bremerton instead of Tacoma even though it was a little further to go.
